ದತ್ತು ಯೋಜನೆಯು ಅಳಿವಿನಂಚಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಪ್ರಾಣಿ, ಪಕ್ಷಿ, ಸರೀಸೃಪ ಮುಂತಾದವುಗಳ ಸಂರಕ್ಷಣೆಗಾಗಿ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರನ್ನೊಳಗೊಂಡ ಪ್ರಕ್ರಿಯೆಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಯಾವುದೇ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ, ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತರು, ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳು, ಕಾರ್ಪೊರೇಟ್ ಗಳು ಮುಂತಾದವು ಪ್ರಾಣಿಗಳ ವಾರ್ಷಿಕ ನಿರ್ವಹಣೆ, ಪಶುವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಆರೈಕೆ ಮತ್ತಿತರ ಖರ್ಚು ವೆಚ್ಚವನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾಣಿಗಳ ದತ್ತು ಯೋಜನೆಯ ಮೂಲಕ ಭರಿಸಬಹುದು. ಇಂತಹ ಪ್ರಾಣಿಗಳ ದತ್ತು ಅಥವಾ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ಸಹಾಯಕ್ಕೆ ತೆರಿಗೆ ಕಾನೂನಿನಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ 80ಜಿ ಯ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಐಟಿ ರಿಯಾಯತಿ ಇದೆ.
